Canada’s Sustainability Practitioners Internship Program (SPIP) Launches Inaugural Cohort to Power Green Screen Workforce
SPIP delivers embedded industry training, SPEC certification, mentorship, and networking to grow Canada’s green screen workforce
[Vancouver, BC] The Sustainability Practitioners Internship Program (SPIP) has officially launched its first national cohort, marking a milestone in building a more sustainable future for Canada’s film, television, and digital media industries. The unique cohort of entertainment professionals from emerging to mid-career hail from pan-national cities and regions who bring passion for sustainability coupled with determined commitment to the creative sector in Canada.
Participants receive embedded industry-recognized training, SPEC certification, bespoke learning sessions, direct access to networks, and curated post-program mentorship and resources that prepare them to make an impact on set and in production offices across the country.

SPEC Certification – Globally recognized credential (via USGBC-CA) in Sustainable Production in Entertainment.

Networking & Resources – Tapping into the SPF conference network, speakers and experts; participants will have special access to build relationships with producers, crew, studios, and a resource toolkit for long-term success.
Building a Sustainable Workforce
As Canada’s screen industry accelerates efforts to reduce carbon emissions and environmental impacts, and with productions and funders increasingly seeking leadership in sustainability on set from producers, to consultants to coordinators, everyone is needed to meet net-zero and climate commitments. SPIP graduates will be prepared to bring knowledge and tangible tools as they progress in their career, whether as sustainability practitioners on set, green producers or heads of departments; these are today and tomorrow’s climate force in the creative industries.
