The Sustainable Entertainment Society is proud to introduce the Sustainability Practitioners Internship Program (SPIP)—a tuition-free program designed to train, certify, and prepare the next generation of sustainability leaders in film, television, and digital media. This program equips participants with a modern, comprehensive, and integrated approach to sustainability and decarbonization in the screen industries.

The SPIP is made possible in collaboration with Lead Sponsor, CBC.

SPIP provides specialized training, industry-recognized certification, and mentorship for emerging and mid-career professionals seeking careers in sustainability for film and TV.

The curriculum embeds existing certifications with tailored sessions that advance a holistic, real-world understanding of sustainable production. Graduates will leave with a refined knowledge of Canadian sustainability tools, standards, and best practices, as well as the confidence to apply them on set.

For producers, this means peace of mind: SPIP-certified practitioners bring reliable skills, practical expertise, and industry-recognized training to every production they support.

By strengthening Canada’s sustainability workforce and building industry capacity, SPIP not only supports career pathways for practitioners but also helps accelerate the screen sector’s transition toward low-carbon, future-ready production.
